I'm a family man, a dog owner, walker and cyclist and I enjoy being in the outdoors on all counts. I have a passion for the landscapes of Scotland and the Cotswolds, having lived, worked and walked in both, but Africa has always fascinated me.

I now work as a lecturer in leisure and tourism management at the University of Gloucestershire.

It's one thing teaching and reading about how tourism changes lives, but something else entirely trying to bring about that change yourself. I'm looking forward to being way out of my comfort zone, and to helping children who, without the work of a team like ours, are destined to a future of poverty, obscurity and deprivation.
